I honestly believe my calling in life is to help others. The satisfaction I receive from doing so is worth more
than gold. To see that I can be a helping hand to those who may not be able to help themselves in hard times,
makes me happy to be who I am.
When I graduated from high school, my plan was to become a child psychologist. I then had a change of heart;
I felt like that was not enough, and I changed my major to criminal justice. I now want to become a police
officer, and I am in the process of doing that now. The way I see it, police officers are often times the first form
of social workers people see. I want to try and change the negative perception people have about police officers
and at the same time, help and protect the community. It is something I am so passionate about. That is why,
when I was given the opportunity to be a part of #TEAMPRETTY, I jumped on board quickly. Here is a group
of beautiful (inside and out), educated women from all walks of life, coming together to do something positive
to help others with no gain other than happiness in our hearts—which I find to be perfect payment. How could I
pass up something as amazing as this?
As the president of #TEAMPRETTY, I would love to build our name into a “family name.” I would love for
everyone to know who we are and what we stand for. I would like to continue to become role models to all and
inspire people to realize that to change the world it starts with YOU. Many may be discouraged because they
think, “What can one person do to change it all?” However, they need to know that passing on a blessing can be
a chain reaction; therefore the change must start with you.
I want to thank my mother, who I honestly believe gave me this heart of gold, as I watched so many times
her give selflessly to all. She would go without, just to make sure we always had. I hope that in all that I do in
#TEAMPRETTY and in life, I will eventually be able to say I was half of the woman she was (rip mommy)
Peace & love to all,
Alesha
